One of the most influential sentences in history mentions the right to life. “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are, life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, that to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.” I’ve just quoted a portion of the Declaration of Independence, the 250th birthday of which we celebrate this year. But in the last half-century, the abortion ethic has been at war with the right to life. Recently, we’ve seen the rise of the mail-order of chemical abortions. Meanwhile, the state of Mississippi has approved some important pro-life legislation.
