This doctrine of calling and God-centered work ethic would greatly influence the following generation as they sought to form a new nation where “all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”

Every Lord’s Day, as people of faith, we gather on the absolutes of what Christ has done for us. We must never lose sight of that because if we do, we lose our spiritual foundation, and great will be our destruction. Jesus taught this in the parable of the house built upon sand and the other on a rock.

It is often said that the greatest things that George Washington achieved is what he did not do. He did not accept the crown when it was offered to him, and he did not quit at the Valley of the Forge.
