Podcast with David Rolfe on the Shroud of Turin—Scientific Evidence of the Resurrection
Topic: Shroud Interview – Overview
In the colonial days, there was a common practice in the Anglican churches to have printed up in large words the Apostles’ Creed, the Lord’s Prayer, and the Ten Commandments. This panel on the walls even has a name for it—a reredos. Included in the Apostles’ Creed is the line about Jesus rising from the dead. The resurrection of Jesus from the dead is the cornerstone of historic Christianity. Is it possible—and I think it is—that there is scientific evidence for Jesus? I refer to the Shroud of Turin, a 14 by 3 foot linen cloth that is believed by many to have been the actual burial cloth of Jesus of Nazareth. One man in our time who has done so much to present information about the Shroud is British film-maker David Rolfe, who has made about 5 or 6 films on the subject, including the classic documentary, “The Silent Witness.” David Rolfe joins Jerry Newcombe to discuss the Shroud and a million dollar challenge to skeptics to make a replica of this thing they claim is a fake. This is part 1 of a 3-part discussion. www.whocanhebe.com
Topic: Shroud Interview – Part 2
David Rolfe is a film-maker specializing in documentaries about the Shroud of Turin. In a previous discussion, he explained a million dollar challenge for anyone who can replicate the Shroud of Turin using the means available to a supposed Medieval forger. Many today claim the Shroud is fake—great. Let them duplicate it and they can earn a million dollars. In this discussion, among other things, Rolfe explains a potential history of the Shroud through the ages.
He also explains the carbon dating of 1988, which supposedly indicated that the Shroud was from the Middle Ages. (Rolfe notes there are scientific problems with that dating). David Rolfe joins Jerry Newcombe to discuss the Shroud and a million dollar challenge to skeptics to make a replica of this thing they claim is a fake. www.whocanhebe.com This is part 2 of a 3-part discussion.
Topic: Shroud Interview – Part 3
Does the Christian Church have at its fingertips scientific evidence for the resurrection of Jesus? Many scientists believe it does—it’s the Shroud of Turin, a 14 by 3 foot linen cloth that is believed by many to have been the actual burial cloth of Jesus of Nazareth. What we think Jesus looked like are based on the Shroud of Turin, and not vice versa. One man in our time who has done so much to present information about the Shroud is British film-maker David Rolfe, who has made a few outstanding films about the Shroud. David Rolfe joins Jerry Newcombe to discuss the Shroud and a million dollar challenge to skeptics to make a replica of this thing they claim is a fake.
