“The American founders read the Bible.” So states Dr. Daniel Dresibach, professor at the school of public affairs at American University in Washington, DC, in the opening line of Chapter 1 of his 2017 book, “Reading the Bible with the Founding Fathers.” This book deals with the Bible and its impact on the lives of the founders (most of them) and also the Bible and political discourse, including the push for independence.
