Podcast with Dr. Peter Lillback on the Names of God and America’s Founding
Topic: Names of God and America’s Founding.
When the founding fathers of America spoke about God, they often used words like, Providence, the Great Governor of the Universe, the Invisible Hand, and so on. Were these just fancy words for the God of the Bible? Or are they references to more of a god acceptable to thinkers of the Enlightenment? I’m sure future generations may analyze some of our language about God and wonder what we really think. Some people talk about God as “the Man Upstairs.” Is that referring to the Biblical God? Dr. Peter Lillback, founding president of the Providence Forum, for which Jerry Newcombe serves as executive director, joins us to discuss the Names of God and America’s Founding. www.providenceforum.org
