Would the founders of America agree with socialism? Would Jesus agree with it? Despite its consistently abysmal track record, socialism has a lot of appeal among many Americans today. Some even claim that being a Christ-follower should make you a socialist, not one who believes in free enterprise. Economist Lawrence Reed of the Foundation for Economic Education disagrees with that notion. He wrote an intriguing new book, Was Jesus a Socialist? His answer to that question is a resounding no. He also observes that the founders of this nation would not agree with socialistic schemes being foisted upon the American people by their own government.
