Podcast with Lt. Col. John Eidsmoe on the Pilgrims and Socialism
Topic: The Pilgrims and Socialism.
The Pilgrims were able to come over on the Mayflower because of some financial backers in England. One of the stipulations of these backers was that in the New World they would hold all things in common. This led to a type of socialism that the Pilgrims were saddled with. What were the results? They were disastrous, as socialism always is. Always. John Eidsmoe, a law professor, is the author of the book, Christianity and the Constitution. John Eidsmoe serves on the board of the Plymouth Rock Foundation, which seeks to educate people on the true legacy of the Pilgrims who founded Plymouth in 1620. which has various profiles of key founding fathers with an assessment of their faith. For example, there is a whole chapter on Roger Sherman, a virtually forgotten founding father.
