Podcast with Mark Beliles on God in the Declaration of Independence
Topic: God in the Declaration of Independence.
This year we celebrate America at 250. We celebrate the 250th birthday of the adoption by voice vote of our nation’s birth certificate, the Declaration of Independence. God is mentioned four times in the Declaration:
▪the laws of nature and of nature’s God
▪endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights
▪appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world
▪And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence
Thomas Jefferson wrote the first draft of the Declaration of Independence. Jerry Newcombe once co-wrote a book on Jefferson about his faith or lack thereof, “Doubting Thomas.” The co-author was Dr. Mark Beliles of Charlottesville, Jefferson’s home town. Beliles co-founded Providence Foundation to educate people about American history, in particular our Christian roots. Dr. Mark Beliles joins Jerry Newcombe to discuss God in the Declaration of Independence and the need for modern Americans to reaffirm the founding principles of our nation, as found in the Declaration of Independence and Constitution. www.doubtingthomasbook.com
