Podcast with Nicole Hunt on Parental Rights in Education

Topic: Parental Rights in Education.

In early America, parents were the ones responsible for their children’s education, as the Bible stipulates—not the government, the parents. In fact, in that view, the teacher is in parentis loco—in the place of the parent. But in recent times, some of the public education has become so out of step with parents’ thinking and morality and worldview, that the schools try to hide from the parents what they’re teaching the children. One case involving the parents’ right to have their children opt out of explicit sex education for their children went all the way up to the Supreme Court. The left howled at this, but a majority of the High Court ruled in favor of the parents. Nicole Hunt, a constitutional attorney with Focus on the Family, joins Jerry Newcombe to discuss parental rights in education. www.focusonthefamily.com
