Podcast with Stephen McDowell on the Christian Roots of the U.S. as Seen in the Supreme Court Building
Topic: Our National Christian Heritage, as Seen at SCOTUS Building.
Does America have Christian roots and does it matter? Perhaps one could argue that no institution has damaged the notion of America’s historic Judeo-Christian heritage than the U.S. Supreme Court, especially in a series of decisions in the 1960s against school prayer, Bible reading in schools, the Ten Commandments in schools, and so on. And yet, notes author Stephen McDowell, the president and co-founder of the Providence Foundation, if you know what you’re looking for, you can see reminders of our Christian roots in the Supreme Court itself. I’m Jerry Newcombe, the executive director of Providence Forum, founded by Peter Lillback and donated to Coral Ridge Ministries. Stephen McDowell of Providence Foundation—a different organization but with similar goals—often leads tours on our nation’s Christian roots. Stephen McDowell joins Jerry Newcombe again to discuss traces of our Judeo-Christian heritage even to be found at the Supreme Court building. www.providencefoundation.com
