The chief author of the Declaration of Independence was Thomas Jefferson. Some people have described Jefferson as if he were virtually an atheist. But that is not accurate. Nor would it be accurate to describe him as a fully orthodox believer. How are we to understand Jefferson and his faith or the lack thereof. Years ago, I co-wrote the book on Jefferson, DOUBTING THOMAS with Dr. Mark Beliles.
