A Prayer for the U.S. Army War College
Recently, our President, Dr. Lillback, had the opportunity to encourage and equip our nation’s military personnel at the U.S. Army War College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. The War College is the Army’s premier professional military education institution focused on the study of national strategy, national security, strategic operations and strategic leadership. Graduates of the one year academic program earn a Master of Strategic Studies degree. Dr. Lillback was the keynote speaker at a Prayer Breakfast at the College and addressed eighty-plus faculty and students on the issue of perseverance. He reminded them of Paul’s charge, “And let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we shall reap if we do not grow weary.” (Gal. 6:9 NAS) This exposition by Dr. Lillback wove the life and service of America’s Senior Officer, George Washington into his message to illustrate Paul’s call to persevere.
This point was not lost on these individuals, who have preserved in the service of this nation during its longest period of sustained combat operations; since September 11, 2001. The event’s feedback praised Dr. Lillback’s academic precision and his pastoral care, which provided stimulus for application of this concept to their personal and family lives. It was a privilege for Dr. Lillback to give back even just a little to these modern day heroes, who have deployed countless times; leading troops in harm’s way that freedom’s ring would ever sound across this great land.
