Founding father John Adams said that the American Revolution was preceded by a revolution in the hearts of the people a generation or so before. The Great Awakening was a spiritual revival that helped convert so many in the American colonies, and the greatest leader in the Great Awakening was George Whitefield from England who came over on preaching tours. What began in Northampton, Massachusetts under Edwards’ pulpit spread like wildfire because of Whitefield all around the British colonies in North America, up and down the Atlantic coast. We know this as the First Great Awakening. Then in the early 1800s, there was the Second Great Awakening.  Americans have been praying for a Third Great Awakening. One minister, Rev. Mark Gonzalez of the Dallas area, says that perhaps a new awakening could come from Hispanic Christians who are love this country. Meanwhile, there is the crisis of the borders. How are we to deal with that? Could the Body of Christ help provide a solution that doesn’t sell our own country down the river?
