Podcast with Bob Knight on Cancel Culture
America’s founders intended robust debate—and even acknowledged freedom of speech in the First Amendment. Cancel culture curbs freedom of speech. Veteran journalist Bob Knight wrote an interesting article recently on cancel culture, entitled, “Making Dissent Illegitimate.” Bob Knight is a veteran journalist and an author of many books. He is a leading conservative spokesman, whose columns have been widely syndicated. He writes regularly for the Washington Times. In his recent article on cancel culture and how the left uses repetition (even of falsehoods) repeatedly, Knight provides an example regarding the previous president: “Mr. Trump is still pilloried over his comments following the 2017 Charlottesville, Virginia riot. Referencing the debate over Confederate statues, Mr. Trump said there were ‘very fine people on both sides.’ He then said, ‘I’m not talking about the neo-Nazis and the white nationalists, because they should be condemned totally.’ To this day, Democrats falsely accuse him of calling Nazis and white supremacists ‘very fine people.’ Failed Virginia gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe used the slander in a campaign ad. Repetition is powerful.” Bob Knight joins Dr. Jerry Newcombe to discuss how the left works to make dissent illegal. www.roberthknight.com
