Podcast with Tim Goeglein on the Lingering Impact of the 1960s on Our Country
Topic: Have We Recovered from the 1960s?
The Bible tells us we are to honor our father and our mother. Additionally, Proverbs 30 says: “There are those who curse their fathers and do not bless their mothers. There are those who are clean in their own eyes but are not washed of their filth.” These descriptions remind me of the 1960s, from which I’m not sure we have fully recovered. Thank God for Christian-based movements in the ‘60s, like the civil rights movement and the civil rights bill and voting bill that resulted. But despite those good things, the zeitgeist of the 1960s seemed to be rebellions against authority. And now there’s a new about the 1960s by Timothy S. Goeglein, who used to work at the Bush White House. Today he runs the D.C. chapter of Focus on the Family. The book is called, Stumbling Toward Utopia: How the 1960s Turned Into a National Nightmare and How We Can Revive the American Dream. Tim Goegelein joins Jerry Newcombe to discuss the 1960s and their ongoing impact on our nation. www.fotf.org
