Providence Today | “America’s First Official Day”
Coral Ridge Ministries writes:
The first official day of the United States of America was April 30, 1789. That’s when George Washington, the first president under the Constitution, was inaugurated. We often hear that the founding fathers were secular-minded and didn’t want to see religion in the public square. But Dr. Peter Lillback, founding president of Providence Forum, points out that Washington acknowledged God in many ways on the first day in the history of America as a new nation.
