During the American War for Independence, the American cause received moral, spiritual, and intellectual help from a surprising source, the ministers of the day. This was especially true of the Calvinist-oriented ministers, who were in the majority at the time. Because of the color of their robes, they were even derisively called “the black-robed regiment.” Here is a short video segment on their critical role in American independence.
