Historically, America has proven to be a safe haven for Jews. I’ve often pointed out that George Washington’s favorite Bible verse was Micah 4:4, which talks about how every man shall be able to rest under his own vine and fig tree, and there shall be none to make him afraid. To the father of our country, this verse from the Old Testament was a picture of what America can offer to the world—including to its Jewish population. But fast forward to modern America. We saw recently a rather chilly reception from the White House toward Israel’s Prime Minister, Bibi Netanyahu. Meanwhile, outside Union Station in D.C., Hamas protesters were desecrating the public square, including a replica of the Liberty Bell, which has a Bible verse on it. How are we to understand these things? Rabbi Daniel Lapin, President of the American Alliance of Jews and Christians, has been a guest on this program many times.
